F@H's welcomes tonight’s guest, Veronica Kott, a pianist and vocalist, her music combines technical aptitude with creative freedom.  With both classical and contemporary training, Veronica has been a music educator for fourteen years and balances her music career while pursuing her masters in community counseling. While primarily a jazz musician, Veronica also dabbles in blues, R&B, and funk when writing her own songs; and finds value, inspiration and play in all forms of art.

Not to confuse anyone, but this month's F@H event will be held on a Saturday, as we celebrate Ernest Hemingway's birthday which is July 21st.

This evening F@H welcomes the Art Harrison's Bluegrass All-Stars. These players are a subset of the Oak Park Farmers' Market Band, who play a mix of bluegrass, traditional Irish and fiddle tunes. 

So join us for a casual celebration as we honor Hemingway's birthday with good times and good music.

Tonight, we are joined by Jon Novi. Jon Novi has three careers in music: teaching, writing, and playing.

He has taught high school band in his native Mexico City, La Grande Oregon and Lake Forest Illinois.In Chicago, he has his own private teaching and recording studio and has taught at the American Conservatory of Music, The Bloom School of Jazz, and Columbia College (eleven different subjects in music). Mr. Novi is proud to have been  on the assistant music theory faculty for four years at the University of North Texas, a world leader in jazz education.

Mr. Novi has classical, jazz, and pop music compositions to his credit and has penned the books to eighty-two bands in Chicago.

He took eight years of classical piano in Mexico before taking eight years of college in Texas, acquiring a master's in clarinet performance. He also plays saxophone, flute, electric keyboards, and he sings. He still takes lessons to this day.

In Chicago Mr. Novi has played with a huge number of bands from the Aristocats to the Zen Sitars.

Music Recital

Violinist, Cara Schlecker and pianist, Myron Silberstein will perform a thrilling and sentimental program of famous works for violin and piano. Most notably, Ms. Schlecker will perform selections from Igor Frolov’s Concert Fantasy on Themes from Gershwin’s Porgy & Bess. The remainder of the program will feature classical and Jazz inspired works.

F@H's welcomes tonight’s guest, Jeanette Andrews, a contemporary magician and artist who specializes in creating interactive sensory illusions, possessing a contemplative take on the art of the impossible. Andrews uses sensory anomalies and scientific oddities to bridge everyday life to a special, heightened world. Illusion is Ms. Andrews’ life’s work and her performances have been praised by PBS, The Daily Mail, and the Chicago Tribune.
