Part Four: The Snows of Kilimanjaro

"The Snows of Kilimanjaro" is one of Hemingway's best known and often taught short stories. But despite its inclusion in most American literature anthologies, the story is one of his darkest as it bitterly discusses the intermixing of art, patronage and gender roles. We will consider how the story frames these ideas and then use our discussion as a jumping off point for a larger conversation about how the story tells the truth, tells lies, tells lies about the truth, and truthfully lies.

Facilitator: Michelle E. Moore, Ph.D., Professor of English, The College of DuPage

Mary Claire Childers, Professor of English, The College of DuPage

Please note a craft talk will follow the presentation
