Hemingway Foundation Student Scholarship Essay Contests CLOSES

The Ernest Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park is pleased to announce the 2024 Hemingway Foundation Student Scholarship Essay Contests. There are two (2) scholarship essay contests each is based on a 300-600 word essay on a given prompt and is open to students from the following school districts: D200 Oak Park-River Forest , D201 Berwyn-Cicero/Morton, D208 Riverside-Brookfield , D209 Proviso Township, D401 Elmwood Park in conjunction with their respective English Division.

Hemingway Foundation Scholarship (Juniors Only)

The top three finalists chosen are included in our annual Hemingway Shorts literary journal. The first place winner receives a $1,500 college scholarship, and a writing mentorship with the Foundation's Writer-in-Residence during their senior year at high school.

Allan O Baldwin Scholarship (Seniors Only)

The overall winner receives a $1,500 college scholarship and their work is published in our annual Hemingway Shorts literary journal.

These scholarships are administrated through our Foundation directly to the place of higher learning in the students name. Students must have a minimum unweighted GPA of 2.5 to apply.
