The Ernest Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park Welcomes Elsworth Carman to the Foundation’s Board

The Ernest Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park is pleased to announce the addition of Elsworth Carman, to the Board of Directors as of June 30th of this year.

Elsworth Carman is the new Executive Director of the Oak Park Public Library which holds and curates the Hemingway Archives within its special collections. Carman has served as an executive director in two public libraries: Iowa City Public Library and Marion (Iowa) Public Library. He also worked for the City of Marion as the Director of the Department of Administrative Services and as a manager in Oak Park and (Washington) DC public libraries.

“I’m honored to join the board of the Ernest Hemingway Foundation and support its mission to preserve and celebrate the legacy of Ernest Hemingway. As someone passionate about literary heritage and cultural preservation, I look forward to contributing to the Foundation’s important work,” Carman said.

Foundation Chairman, John Berry, announced, “with Elsworth’s return to our community to lead the Oak Park Public Library, we are grateful to add his expertise to our board in pursuit of our Foundation’s mission”.
