A Moveable Read: Hemingway in the 21st Century

This six-part discussion series is based on the book, “The Snows of Kilimanjaro and Other Stories”, by Ernest Hemingway featuring guest speakers discussing specific short stories and interrelated topics of today. A craft talk will take place at the end of each discussion.

Part Two: A Moveable Feast

The decades between the World Wars saw an explosion of art and artistic movements in the West. During the 20’s, Paris attracted artists from around the world, and the decade produced lasting art. Few books capture this period in the manner of Hemingway’s memoir, A Movable Feast. This conversation will consider the difference between ex-patriation and emigration, what art arises out of periods of socio-economic crisis, and whether Hemingway’s insights into social equity, egotism and constructs of identity prove insightful to our current historical period.
