EHFOP Announces Amelia Estelle Dellos as the Writer in Residence for the 2026-2027 Term

The Ernest Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park is pleased to announce that Amelia Estelle Dellos will serve as the Foundation’s newest Writer-in-Residence (WIR). During her 2026-2027 term, Amelia will assist in advancing the foundation’s mission supporting the development of our educational programming and mentorship of our student scholarship recipients. She will also enjoy the opportunity to continue her work in the dedicated writing space at the Hemingway Birthplace Museum.

Ms. Dellos is a lifelong Chicagoan, an award-winning writer, and a filmmaker. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia College Chicago and has worked as a professor of teaching, writing and rhetoric at Roosevelt University and her alma mater. She serves as the managing editor of Unwoven Literary & Arts Magazine.

“As a literary educational foundation, the Writer in Residence program is a fundamental part in fulfilling our mission,” Keith Strom, Foundation Executive Director, said. “We are very grateful to have Amelia join our team and believe her passionate support of creative writing will bolster our efforts in serving as a community cornerstone.”

Amelia’s work has reached diverse audiences through publications such as Allium: A Journal of Poetry & Prose, Big Shoulders Press, and Street Lit, as well as national platforms like PBS and Amazon Prime. Her novel, Delilah Recovered, received international recognition via the Watty Awards before its publication by Atmosphere Press. She is currently at work on her master thesis, “Mary’s Daughter”, which she will continue within the WIR writing space.

"As a lifelong Chicagoan and a local writer, I am thrilled to serve as the 2026–2027 Writer-in-Residence at the Ernest Hemingway Birthplace Home,” Amelia Dellos stated. “I look forward to developing community programs with the Ernest Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park that explore this fundamental question: How do we continue the conversation with Hemingway's work that he began one hundred years ago?"
